This work from the mid-1950s depicts a tiger roaring furiously toward the night sky with a crescent moon. This tiger on the surface is a very popular pattern, and the stripes of tiger spots and the radially embroidered fur show outstanding skill in its depiction. This Tiger Skajan consists of a tiger embroidered not only on the back but also on both chests. The word “JAPAN” in oriental font is also rare in vintage.
The reversible side has a dragon pattern in black. The dragon's powerful expression is depicted by the embroidery's three-dimensional effect, making full use of needle feet. The body is made of pink acetate fabric, but the contrast with the black embroidery brings the colors of the jacket together, and the ribs in a color scheme that matches the embroidery tighten the overall balance. This is a piece that allows you to enjoy the strangeness of the color scheme of the vintage scajan, which gives a very different impression on both sides.
