This model features a design inspired by the 72nd Fighter Squadron, part of the 7th Air Force, which was established in late 1941 and served on reconnaissance patrol missions over Hawaii until late 1943. The design is printed on a T-shirt that replicates the body of an authentic government-issued garment.
Since the use of characters on unit insignia was common in the 1940s, the finished product evokes the atmosphere of that era.
