Authentic American Workwear
This is the Fall/Winter 2025 work shirt from Sugar Cane, which offers a wide range of workwear, including shirts and jackets, primarily made from denim.
Originally developing clothing for U.S. military bases, Sugar Cane was born in Japan, and yet its craftsmanship and know-how are all American-inspired.
Each piece is carefully recreated, with actual vintage shirts meticulously cut with scissors and meticulously analyzed for the number of colors and patterns. This allows you to own a shirt with the style of the time in pristine condition and enjoy the changes in texture as you wear it, a charm not found in vintage clothing.
This item features an ombré check pattern inspired by a 1960s rayon shirt from TOWNCRAFT, a spin-off brand of the major American department store chain J.C.PENNY in the early 1900s.
A gradation of five warp and four weft colors replaces the color of the rayon material with cotton.
Chest pockets are located on both sides of the chest.
Pockets come in a variety of shapes depending on the era and brand, a distinctive feature of vintage shirts, but this one features rounded corners.
Another distinctive feature is that the fabric in the pocket area is cut on the bias (turned), adding a unique touch to the design.
The collar is a regular collar with a stand, making it easy to coordinate with any style.
The shirt uses classic four-hole buttons.
The buttons are secured with four holes, which provide stability and make them less likely to come undone.
Both hems have gussets to prevent the front and back panels from tearing.
Another signature detail of vintage work shirts is the "loop loop" stitch, where the seam is sewn in one direction and the thread is left tangled to secure the seam.
With features such as twin-needle chain stitching for added strength and a back yoke design in the shoulder areas, which are subject to stress, this shirt is highly durable and will last for years to come.
The crisp 100% cotton fabric is just the right thickness yet sturdy and durable, making it versatile enough to wear on its own or as an inner layer, making it enjoyable for three seasons from fall to spring.
The sizing is slightly loose, inspired by the vintage style of the time; for example, the M size is more like an M leaning towards an L.
The S (36) size is just the right fit.
The M (38) is the perfect fit! The chest is a little roomier, so you can wear it over a hoodie to create different silhouettes around the neck.
