Early 1950s - Mid 1950s Style Acetate Souvenir Jacket "BLACK TIGER" × "GOLD DRAGON
The "Year of the Dragon" collection is a reprinting of selected embroidered dragons from among many vintage ska-jackets, in honor of the dragon, the zodiac sign for the year 2024.
The surface features a black tiger design on crimson acetate. Based on a vintage item made in the early to mid-1950s, the pattern is in a single color, not only on the tiger but also on the background of Mt. The bottom of the sleeves are switched to black acetate to match the black tiger, and the ribbing and piping are also in red, white, and black, making for a chic piece of clothing.
The reversible side features a richly colored gold dragon on a green body, reproducing the color of embroidery threads that have discolored over the 70 years since they were made in the 1950s, with the dragon also using faded gold embroidery thread. Also, the distinctive details, such as the gold dragon on the back versus the white dragon on the chest and the larger-than-usual block letters of the word JAPAN, are in keeping with the vintage design."
