This tankards jacket made by Buzz Rickson's has been thoroughly analyzed in terms of yarn spinning and weaving, fabric materials, parts and forms, and has been reproduced with the charm of vintage.
Officially named “Jacket, Combat, Winter,” this jacket was developed in 1940, just before the U.S. entered World War II.
Two types of jackets existed: an early model with patch pockets and a later model with slash pockets, and this one is a reproduction of the early model.
The Tankers was adopted as winter cold-weather clothing for armored units, and a prototype was completed in 1941, with full-scale distribution beginning in the same year.
The outer layer is made of water- and wind-resistant cotton twill, and the lining is made of 26-ounce wool, ensuring moderate heat retention.
The sleeves are decorated with the colorful 2nd Armored Corps insignia and the monotone 2nd Sergeant's rank insignia.
All patches are hand-sewn and attached for a strong presence.
The reproduction of detailed specifications is a detail unique to Buzz Lixons.
As the name “Tankers” implies, this jacket was made for tank soldiers, and in consideration of mobility when riding, pleats are provided on both shoulders, making movement around the shoulders very smooth.
The ribs are made of wool material with excellent heat retention properties.
The ribs on the sleeves are knit in a seamless loop for an excellent fit.
The zipper is a brass size 5 square comma zipper, and the front placket is fitted with a storm flap to prevent wind from entering through the gap between the zipper and the jacket, among other details.
This is one of the simplest designs among the many military jackets, and is perfect for adding a rugged atmosphere to your coordination.
It has been worn in many movies and has a strong fan base.
