“CRANE FLY AWAY”.
One of the essential brands in tracing the roots of Hawaiian shirts, Musashiya the Shirtmaker, has reissued a work of art.
This work depicts a crane dynamically flying away, using the entire shirt as a canvas. This shirt has been worn and worn down.
This shirt is a rare design with a paulownia crest (a family crest used by the emperor and other family members) printed in silver pigment on top of a rubbed crane.
From the 1920s, Musashiya Schoten used advertisements in major newspapers and other media to steadily increase its clientele, attracting many tourists and orders from all over the world, including South Africa and Argentina.
In the 1930s, the store became a joint-stock company, aiming for further growth, but due to the effects of the Great Depression and other factors, the store and business were sold to the import trading company Fujii Junichi Shoten in 1934.
He then moved to South King in Honolulu and established “Musashiya the Shirtmaker” and continued to manufacture aloha shirts, leaving behind a number of historic pieces.
