A shirt featuring a masterpiece by a master craftsman proud of Japan
This is the 2025 spring/summer model "TRIP TO HAWAII" from Sunsurf, a brand that analyzes its vast collection of vintage aloha shirts and puts a strong commitment to the techniques and processes in each and every piece.
This model is a sequel to the popular "Let's Go to Hawaii" model that was released in 2024, and is a new work by Mookie Sato, one of the artists influenced by the master Ryohei Yanagihara and an enthusiastic fan, following the previous work. It is a piece that is filled with the new charm of the work, where you can directly feel the feelings of many people for Hawaii and the tropical atmosphere.
"TRIP TO HAWAII"
Ryohei Yanagihara, the creator of the beloved character "Uncle Tris" that everyone has seen at least once, is known as a master of advertising art, with fans not only in Japan but all over the world, and has a great influence on contemporary artists.
Having worked on the advertisements for the "Let's go to Hawaii" campaign in 1961, Sun Surf has a strong connection with Hawaii, and has produced original aloha shirts with them in the past.
This work is a new work by Mookie Sato, an artist who has inherited the worldview created by Yanagihara Ryohei and is officially authorized to modify Yanagihara Ryohei's designs.
The design is full of a resort feel, with Hawaiian motifs such as Uncle Tris, hula girls, and palm trees, all drawn in a narrow space, making it eye-catching.
The back of the neck is fitted with a Sun Surf original design name tag, as well as a name tag with an illustration of Uncle Tris prepared for this series, and a special tag is also included.
The buttons are coconut buttons made by carving out coconuts.
The material used enhances the atmosphere of the Hawaiian design, and each button has a different look, which is also appealing.
It has an open collar with a Hawaiian taste, and the neck is loose and looks refreshing.
You can also enjoy changing the style by looping the small top button under the collar.
The chest pocket is patterned with the body, creating a sense of unity throughout the design.
Pattern matching requires high sewing skills and uses a large amount of fabric, so it is made carefully and luxuriously, and you can feel the commitment unique to a long-established replica aloha company.
The shoulders, which are prone to stress when worn, are strengthened with a yoke design that adds another layer of fabric.
