The SNOOPY "U.S.A.F. TACTICAL AIR COMMAND" is part of Toys McCoy's Fall/Winter 2025 collection!
With a deep knowledge of American culture, including military, film, and motorcycles, Toys McCoy has brought the popular American character Snoopy to the iconic military wear item, the MA-1, for this officially licensed item.
While faithfully recreating vintage materials and components, Toys McCoy's unique design creates a silhouette perfect for everyday wear, making this a highly collectible and practical piece.
The MA-1 is divided into seven models based on its production period, and this model is based on the sixth of these, the MIL-J-8279E (E Type).
A distinctive feature of the E-Type is its reversible design, featuring an orange lining. This "rescue orange" color scheme was designed to make it easier for allies to spot you in forests and other environments during an emergency parachute escape.
■Design unique to licensed items
The right chest features an embroidered FLYING ACE patch, a popular costume of Snoopy, who is known for his love of disguises, while the left chest features a Charlie Brown leather nameplate.
The right shoulder features a TAC (Tactical Air Command) patch for added accent, and the left shoulder features a cigarette pocket, a classic MA-1 detail.
The pockets are also highly practical, allowing for storage of small items.
The back features eye-catching designs of Snoopy, Woodstock, and the U.S.A.F. logo.
All illustrations and logos are embroidered, resulting in an intricate design.
■Recreating Vintage Details
Originally, the MA-1's pockets were designed without flaps to distinguish it from the L-2B, but the E-Type features flaps to prevent items from falling out.
The labels that were originally attached to the back of the neck are now sewn inside the pockets, but because it is reversible, the stitching has been moved.
Faithfully recreating vintage details, such as the wind flap that prevents cold air from seeping in through gaps in the zipper and the zipper with double-sided pull tabs for reversibility.
The material is a crisp, lustrous nylon that was faithfully reproduced based on analysis of vintage items.
The collar, cuffs, and hem feature stretchy ribbing for an excellent fit.
Toys McCoy has used its wisdom to recreate the vintage MA-1 "MIL-J-8279E" and is releasing a custom model that evokes Snoopy appropriate for that era. Based on the story of a U.S. Air Force maintenance squadron, this custom jacket features the popular Peanuts story "FLYING ACE." It features Snoopy and Woodstock embroidered on the back, a leather nameplate on the front, an embroidered FLYING ACE patch, and a TAC (Tactical Air Command) patch on the shoulder.
The MA-1, a successor to the Type B-15 series, debuted in the 1950s and was produced until the 1970s. Of all the flight jackets developed around the world during this period, the MA-1 was the most refined and widely used by pilots. Used for approximately 30 years, the MA-1 evolved alongside the development of jet fighter aircraft. It underwent a total of seven revisions, starting with the first model's specification, MIL-J-8279, and ending with MIL-J-8279F. This MIL-J-8279E type was the sixth MA-1 model, and its distinctive feature is its reversible design, which was designed to make it easier for allies to spot it when parachuting to the ground during an emergency evacuation. The lining is a rescue orange color, making it highly visible in forests and other areas. The label, which was previously attached to the back, was moved to the inside of the slash pocket due to the reversible design.
