While the previous RD processing, achieved through meticulous handcrafting techniques, features vertical fading, selvedge creases, and distressing around the pockets and knees, giving these jeans a vintage-worthy aging look, this new RD4 processing adds a beautiful pale ice blue color achieved through repeated wear and washing. ■Distressed jeans that you can enjoy a rich look from the day you pick them up
New colors have been added to the distressed models in the "Rokumaru Series," a 15oz denim line from Eight G, the original Japanese jeans brand of our store, Jeans Center Sakai.
This model is based on Lot 602, a historic Rokuro model considered a classic in jeans history, and features RD (Real Distress) processing to create a look that rivals vintage jeans.
This new "RD4" processing adds a touch of real distressing around the pockets, knees, and hems, as well as a beautiful pale ice blue color achieved through repeated wearing and washing.
The natural faded look evokes a "freshly washed" look, making this a pair of jeans that even adults who are hesitant to try a distressed look can enjoy without hesitation.
■Fabric and Processing Characteristics
The fabric is made from 15oz selvedge denim.
While most jeans on the market are made from denim woven on modern high-speed looms (innovative looms), selvedge denim is woven on an old-fashioned power loom known as a shuttle loom.
Compared to modern looms, these machines can only weave fabrics about half the width, can weave at around one-fifth the speed, and require a lot of manual adjustments, making them extremely inefficient. However, they have captured the hearts of jeans enthusiasts with their simple, airy look and unique roughness and unevenness.
Selvedge denim is characterized by the presence of selvedge edges on the outseam (the outer seam).
Originally a feature unique to shuttle looms, which prevent fraying on both ends of the fabric, today it is known as a sign of selvedge denim and a much-loved detail for its design.
In the heyday of shuttle looms, which could weave narrow fabrics, the selvedge edges were used to minimize fabric waste, and by using the prevented fray edges for the outseams, the need for finishing with a serger was eliminated, reflecting the emphasis on production efficiency at the time.
The distressed finish, which beautifully captures the discoloration, creases, and scuffs that come with wear, is meticulously applied by artisans to each pair of jeans.
While actual used clothing naturally deteriorates over time, such as wear to the fabric, the distressed finish preserves a vintage feel while maintaining the strength of the fabric and stitching, as the jeans are brand new.

■ Celebrating the distinctive details of historic vintage jeans
These simple five-pocket jeans are a traditional style.
The front features a button fly, and the top button is hand-engraved using a technique called deep engraving.
The rivets are traditional punched copper rivets, and the back of the coin pocket features a stylish accent.
The V-shaped seam beside the top button is called a "V-stitch," and is a technique used to maintain strength in the days before backstitching on sewing machines.
The jeans also feature selvedge detailing on the inside of the placket and hidden rivets, a detail coveted by vintage enthusiasts.
The cotton lining is printed with classic logos and other designs.
The back, the face of the jeans, is also packed with thoughtful details.
The center belt loop is center-set, sewn on over the seam.
The deerskin leather patch is made of a material that does not harden even after repeated washing.
The right back pocket features an iconic Eight G G mark with decorative stitching.
