The surface features a Japan map pattern with beautiful Japanese landscapes such as Mt. Fuji, a five-story pagoda, cherry blossoms, pine trees, and a torii gate, etc. It is a reproduction of an early 1950s vintage pattern with few plain areas and the entire back is covered with embroidery. The colorful threads of the Japanese map and motifs in white tone against the black body, accented with green ribbing and red and white rope piping, make this a superb piece of clothing.
The reversible side features a magnificent design of dancing gold dragons on a blue body reminiscent of sunny skies. In contrast to the front side, the embroidery features an exquisite balance of embroidery that makes good use of the blank space. The dragon and tiger on the chest have the same pattern as on the front, but if you look closely, you will see that the use of colored threads is different. This is because the same embroidery pattern was used for both sides of the vintage piece, and the embroidery craftsmen of the time were particular about changing the colors to match the color of the fabric, even for the same pattern.
