This is the 2024 model "THE SONG OF HAWAII" from Sun Surf, a brand that has revived many vintage aloha shirts.
Sun Surf's Aloha shirts have gained a lot of support by analyzing their huge collection of vintage Aloha shirts to fully reproduce the designs and colors that are the most attractive features of Aloha shirts, and to enjoy the charm of precious and hard-to-find vintage Aloha shirts.
The collection has also gained a lot of support from customers who share the same feelings about the techniques and processes used to complete the shirts, such as fabric and sewing.

This work is a reissue of a piece produced in the early 1950s by Malihini Sportswear, a company led by Raymond Sasaki.
The shirt is a typical Hawaiian shirt design, with the titles of songs that have been popular in Hawaii for centuries scattered throughout the shirt, along with musical notes, and colorfully expressed by stencil dyeing, creating a perfect match with the resort-like atmosphere of Hawaii.
Raymond had a passion for painting, and even before the company was founded, he was producing and selling tablecloths and pillowcases printed with his own artwork, as well as wholesaling fabrics for dresses and curtains.

There are several patterns in the design of aloha shirts, but this is an all-over pattern, or what is called an "all-over pattern," which is characterized by the repetition and continuity of a certain pattern throughout the shirt.
Since it is the pattern that has been used the longest from the first period to the present, it can be said to be a royal design that greatly contributed to the spread of aloha shirts, and it boasts high popularity.
The print is made by a technique called "Bousouzome," in which the pattern is extracted from the ground-dyed fabric with a decolorizing agent and dyed with other colors at the same time, making it possible to combine colors that contrast with the ground color, making it suitable for designs with vivid colors such as this one.

The neck has an open collar, which is standard for aloha shirts, but the top button under the collar can be closed according to your style.
An original Sun Surf design name is attached to the back of the neck.

The left breast pocket is "pattern-matched" with the pattern on the front, so that you can't tell the pocket is attached from a distance, increasing the sense of unity of the design.
In this model, the left and right sides of the body are also pattern-matched, so that when worn with the buttons fastened, the pattern is not noticeable.
The pattern matching requires high sewing skills and a large amount of fabric, so it is carefully and extravagantly made, and you can feel the care that only a long-established replica Aloha company can take.
The buttons are made of coconut buttons carved from coconut palms.
The use of this material enhances the atmosphere of the design, and it is attractive that each button shows a different expression.

The shoulder yokes are pleated in two places to reduce the feeling of tightness when the shoulder area is moved.
The hem is boxy and cut in a straight line, creating a well-balanced silhouette as a single piece of clothing.

The fabric is made of Habutae, a rayon fabric with filament rayon used for the warp and weft yarns, which has a beautiful, unique luster.
It is comfortable to wear because of its high heat dissipation and coolness, and the drape and the way the shirt flutters in the wind give it a resort-like feel, which is typical of aloha shirts.

Since this shirt is based on a vintage aloha shirt, the size is slightly loose.
If you want to wear it neatly, many people prefer to wear it one size smaller than their usual size.
