This model features a print inspired by the 5th Bomber Battalion, the "Bomber Barons," founded in 1918 and considered the oldest bomber squadron in the history of the U.S. Air Force.
Before World War II, the 1935 Mauna Loa volcano was deployed to Hawaii, where they were known for diverting lava away from the city by dropping bombs around the volcano, saving the citizens of Hilo, Hawaii, during the 1935 eruption. The skull-themed unit's pattern was painted by an artistically gifted soldier at the time and remains highly popular today.
