The print design is based on the 6147th Tactical Control Group, also known as the "Mosquito Unit," which was active in the Korean War and was named after the unpredictable timing and location of its mosquito-like appearance.
In February 1954, Marilyn Monroe visited an air base in Korea to entertain American soldiers during her honeymoon. The US Air Force welcomed her by providing her with a special flight jacket, a B-15C, decorated with the mosquito patch of the garrison.
Since then, the Mosquito Unit has been known as a unit that is still talked about in the history of the Air Force, and has become a popular design as a standard military motif.
