This N-1 deck jacket is made by Buzz Rickson's, a brand that thoroughly analyzes yarn spinning and weaving, fabric materials, parts and forms, and revives famous flight jackets in the modern age.
Following the navy model created in 1944, the khaki model adopted in the following year, 1945, has been reissued, and details such as the changes have been reproduced in detail.
It is a popular item that has received very high support as an American casual item for winter with its heavy-duty appearance and outstanding cold-weather protection.

Type N-1 Khaki “NAVY DEPARTMENT DEMOTEX-ED
The N-1 deck jacket was used by the U.S. Navy from World War II to the Korean War as a set with trousers made of the same material. The N-1 deck jacket, like other deck jackets, was made of cotton grosgrain, usually called “jungle cloth,” and lined with alpaca mohair wool pile, which provided excellent wind protection and heat retention. In 1945, a khaki model was issued. The changes were not only in color, but also in the omission of the alpaca mohair sewn inside the cuffs, the simplification of the loops attached to the lining underarms and hem cord, the enlargement of the hem cord eyelets, and the position of the underarm eyelets.

The cold protection was required for working on the deck of a ship, which is always exposed to the sea wind.
The high-density woven jungle cloth used for the outer material was the best material to protect against the extreme cold because it is windproof, waterproof, and coldproof.
The lining is made of thick alpaca wool pile and boasts outstanding warmth retention.

The collar section has the same alpaca mohair as the lining, so the collar can be turned up and the chinstrap fastened to further enhance the wind protection around the neck.
The front of the jacket has a winged design that allows the wind flap to be buttoned over the zipper, not only to keep out the cold but also to protect against corrosion caused by sea breezes, a specification unique to deck jackets intended for use at sea.
The zipper pulls and buttons are larger in size for easy opening and closing even with gloves on.

The inner sleeves are ribbed for a good fit and to prevent cold air from entering the arms.
The omission of alpaca mohair, which was attached to the sleeve lining in the navy model, and the larger size of the underarms and eyelets at the hem cord opening are also reproduced as historical details that show the transition from the navy model.
