The print design is based on the American Volunteer Group, which supported the Chinese in their fight against Japan during the Sino-Japanese War.
The group was nicknamed the "Flying Tigers," and the winged tiger character associated with the group is one of the most popular military designs developed by Buzz Lixons.
The Flying Tigers are derived from the Chinese legend "如虎添翼," which means "to give wings to the tiger, the strongest animal on earth, makes it invincible.
