A shirt with a fun, classic 50's impression
This is an open-collar shirt made of jazz nep fabric with a natural texture and ombre checks with distinctive shading.
The retro atmosphere of the Fifties, which is reminiscent of the good old American mood, and the open-collar neckline give a stylish impression, and this shirt has a charm that makes it a perfect one-piece item.
It is a piece of clothing that is also supported by the sizing of the original pattern to fit the Japanese body shape, and by the durable and solid production by skilled craftsmen who carefully finish each piece at a domestic factory exclusive to “Eight G”.

Fascinating ombre checks born from the relationship between culture and fashion
Ombre check, the name of which is derived from the French word for shading and shadows, is a check pattern characterized by a depth of color that gradually changes.
It was first used by bikers and rockers in the 1950s, and has since been in the limelight in movies, music scenes, etc., and has a deep-rooted popularity even today.
In the present day, there are many checkered patterns that can be called symbols of casual items, and surprisingly, many of them originated from patterns worn (or used) by the wealthy, but this ombre check is a genuine casual design with its roots in the culture centered on American youth.

The fabric is 100% cotton woven under moderate tension.
The fabric is made of jazz nep fabric, with unevenness added in places by the knots of the threads, and the balance between the hard-edged impression of the ombre check and the natural look of the fabric is exquisite.

Open collar that gives a stylish impression
It is said that this type of shirt with an open collar became popular around the 1940s.
Until then, shirts were supposed to be worn with a tie, but with the appearance of open-collar shirts, the style of wearing them loosely with the top button open became popular.
The shape of the collar differs depending on the period, but this shirt incorporates the characteristics of the open collar shirts of the 1940s and 1950s, such as a larger collar and a loop for fastening the top button.

The shape of the pockets also varies, but this shirt adopts a shape with rounded corners.
No flaps or buttons are attached, and the pattern is matched to the body of the shirt, giving it a casual impression.
The hem is a straight box cut without curves, which gives the shirt a well-balanced appearance in terms of width and length, making it ideal for coordination with the shirt as the main feature.

Detailing that follows workwear design
For the buttons on the front and cuffs, we use cat-eye buttons, which have long been used in many work shirts and military shirts.
As the name suggests, the buttons are characterized by a carving that looks like a cat's eye. This is a functional construction unique to workwear, as the threads attaching the buttons are not exposed, thereby preventing the threads from fraying.
The cuffs are made with the “ittekoi” technique, which is a coveted feature for vintage lovers, where the sword bolo is omitted and the cut is sewn up at once.
It shows the simplification of sewing, which was created by the rationalization of mass production at that time, and shows the relationship between the historical background and the clothes.

We recommend wearing it with the front open or with the sleeves rolled up, depending on the styling and temperature.

Japan's world-class sewing capabilities
Made in Japan” is a keyword that indicates the high quality of a product, and nowadays it is used all over the world.
This shirt is also made in a “typically Japanese” way, with the Japanese temperament of meticulousness, precision, and careful finishing, as well as dexterity.
