Introducing "THE BODY" from Toys McCoy's Fall/Winter 2025 collection.
With a deep knowledge of various aspects of American culture, Toys McCoy has focused on the military world, creating this unique, realistic, and original piece. Based on the classic Type A-2 leather flight jacket, this highly sought-after model features luxurious customizations such as leather patches and an original illustration by Hiroshi Okamoto, the brand's producer.
"THE BODY" was the nickname given to the B-17G piloted by Steve McQueen in the film "The War Lover."
This model is lavishly decorated with a leather patch and an original illustration by Hiroshi Okamoto, depicting a smiling pin-up girl holding a bomb, which is the origin of the name, painted on the nose of the aircraft.
The Type A-2 leather flight jacket was officially adopted by the U.S. Army Air Corps in 1931 as a summer flight jacket.
It is a classic leather flight jacket, with approximately 700,000 produced by 1943.
Unlike previous models such as the A-1, which used buttons, the A-2 adopted a zipper, dramatically improving functionality and setting the standard for flight jackets thereafter.
The back of the A-2 is made from a single piece of luxurious leather, making designs that make use of the entire back look particularly striking.
The collar features snap buttons and a neck hook, so you can change the way you fasten it or curl the collar to create a different look around your neck.
The shoulder epaulets add a masculine touch.
The left sleeve features the 8th Air Force insignia, the jacket's unit, finished with eye-catching leather craft work and intricate stitching.
Both pockets are flap pockets with snap buttons.
Because it was considered inappropriate for soldiers to have their hands in their pockets, the pockets are not designed to serve as hand warmers.
The sleeves and hem are made with 100% wool ribbing for a comfortable fit.
The sleeve ribbing is seamless, and the use of both low and high gauge fabric improves the fit and prevents wind from seeping in.
The front has a zipper closure with a placket.
The zipper is a wartime Talon zipper with a leather pull tab.
The lining is decorated with the jacket's name and stencil.
The leather is made from horsehide, which has a deep luster. The leather ages beautifully with wear, developing wrinkles and a sheen that changes with age.
The lining is made from smooth cotton.
The short length and streamlined silhouette are the classic flight jacket silhouette.
As the jacket will wrinkle significantly with wear, we recommend wearing it fitted snugly.
